How much does rebranding cost (and why the price range is so wide)

The price of rebranding varies a lot because the name is the same but the delivery isn't. Understand what defines the range, why cheap ends up expensive, and what you're really paying for.

How much does rebranding cost (and why the price range is so wide), illustration about rebranding cost

Ask the price of rebranding from five different suppliers and you get five ranges that don't talk to each other.

One charges hundreds. Another charges tens of thousands. And both call the service rebranding.

It's not market disorganization. It's that rebranding isn't just one product. The name is the same, the delivery is completely different.

Why the price varies so much

What makes the price go up or down isn't the size of the logo. It's the depth of the work.

A rebranding can be a quick visual swap. It can be a reconstruction that starts at positioning and ends at every touchpoint. Between one extreme and the other, the price varies by an entire order of magnitude.

Three things define where your project falls on this range.

Depth. Just the visuals, or positioning, identity, tone of voice, and application together? The more layers, the greater the work.

Who executes it. A beginner freelancer, a specialized studio, and a brand consultancy charge different ranges because they deliver different levels of criteria and process.

Application scope. A brand with five touchpoints costs less to reapply than one with fifty. The system needs to work in all of them.

The three market ranges

In broad terms, the market organizes into three ranges. Each delivers a different thing.

Entry range. Freelancers and quick packages. The delivery is usually just visual, without positioning work. It's the cheapest option and the one that most disappoints those who needed more than a new logo.

Mid range. Specialized studios and professionals. The delivery is a system, not a piece. Positioning, identity, and application worked together. It's where most validated businesses need to be.

High range. Brand consultancies and large studios. Long projects, extensive process, multiple research stages. Makes sense for larger companies or brands with complex architecture.

Why cheap ends up expensive

The entry range looks like savings. It's almost always the most expensive spend in the process.

Because it solves the wrong symptom. It swaps the visual without touching perception. The business continues to be perceived below what it is, the client continues to ask for discounts, and six months later the company is looking for another supplier to redo it.

Paying twice is more expensive than paying the right amount once.

The question isn't 'which is cheapest'. It's 'which one really solves it, so I don't have to pay again'.

What you're really paying for

In a rebranding, you're not buying a logo file.

You're buying perception. The difference between a brand that arrives negotiating price and one that arrives setting terms. That's the asset. The logo is just where it appears.

And perception has measurable return: less discounting, higher ticket, shorter sales cycle. That's why well-done rebranding is an investment, not a cost. It pays for itself in the margin that stops leaking.

The right price depends on the size of the problem

Before asking for quotes from any supplier, it's worth knowing the actual size of your problem.

Because the right price depends on the depth you need. And that depth is what a diagnosis shows before you spend on the wrong solution.

Perguntas frequentes

Why do rebranding quotes vary so much between suppliers?

Because rebranding isn't one single product. The depth of the work (just visuals versus positioning, identity, tone of voice, and application together), who executes it, and how many touchpoints need to be reapplied all change the price by an entire order of magnitude.

What's included in an entry-level rebrand versus a mid-range one?

The entry range covers freelancers and quick packages that deliver mostly visuals without positioning work. The mid range covers specialized studios that deliver positioning, identity, and application worked together as a system.

What's the hidden cost of choosing the cheapest rebranding option?

It solves the wrong symptom, swapping the visual without touching perception. The business keeps being perceived below what it is, and within months it's looking for another supplier to redo the work, which ends up more expensive than paying the right price once.

Is a rebranding project just paying for a new logo file?

No. You're paying for perception itself, the difference between a brand that arrives negotiating price and one that arrives setting terms. That has a measurable return in less negotiating, a higher ticket, and a shorter sales cycle.
